NO BAKE SHEPARDS PIE !!. Shepherd's Pie comes to us from England, and is traditionally made with lamb or mutton. Here in the states we are more of a beef eating culture than a lamb eating one, and when one is served "shepherd's pie" here, it is most often made with ground beef. Yes, that is what I said.
The difference between Shepherd's Pie and Cottage Pie is the meat.
Pour the meat mixture into a casserole dish.
Top it with the cheesy mashed potatoes.

Shepards Pie Recipe - A simple version of the classic meat and vegetable comfort food casserole, this is the best Shepherd's Pie recipe ever! Rich and flavorful beef shepherd's pie recipe, made easy in one skillet! Ground beef, tender vegetables, and fluffy mashed potatoes… what could be better! I baked it in a casserole dish vs using a skillet. My only comment about the recipe is that if I made it again, I would add the whole cup of broth.
